Why Celebrate Holi?
The festival of Holi can be regarded as a celebration of the Colors of Unity & Brotherhood - an opportunity to forget all differences and indulge in unadulterated fun. It has traditionally been celebrated in high spirit without any distinction of cast, creed, color, race, status or sex. It is one occasion when sprinkling colored powder ('gulal') or colored water on each other breaks all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same and universal brotherhood is reaffirmed.

This is one simple reason to participate in this colorful festival. Let's learn more about its history and significance...
The colorful festival of Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which comes in February end or early March. Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of 'good' over 'bad'. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renew sweet relationships.

On this day, people hug and wish each other 'Happy Holi'. Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve. Numerous legends & stories associated with Holi celebration makes the festival more exuberant and vivid. People rub 'gulal' and 'abeer' on each others' faces and cheer up saying, "bura na maano Holi hai". Holi also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped in a special Holi gift.

Holi Festival In Chandigarh......
This is high time in Chandigarh When HOLI comes, it brings rainbow color diversity to its beautiful campus. For a week .. the “EVER GREEN” tag of Chandigarh to a “VIBGYOR”. In the same time Chandigarh lanes demands more foot steps.. but alas all its family members go for a long drive to all possible remotest corner of INDIA. All we left with vacant roads, empty campus bus, closed tea stalls in VT , occasional copules in Chandigarh, and a hungry scene in Central Library. Still existing manpower try their best to overshow the pompous Chandigarh strength and vigour. Beautiful lawns see their first wound on their surface,as all dig soil, make a perfectly tuned …well balanced Ph ” SOIL SOLUTION”…( remember chemistry lab), douse it over as if Chandigarh has provided free alcohol….then…then…then.. We all come to street starting from VT to LANKA GATE…. demand whole breadth of road as our “BIRTH RIGHT”…..Literaly (MINI road Blocked). All unknown passer by become our Frndz …really marvellous experience. One thing more important then this celebration…is we all remain virtually hungry..as all mess & hotels in lanka are closed.
